Making Teaware in Residency - Shigaraki, Japan

In 2024 Jonathan Steele spent three months as Resident Artist at The Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Japan. In the continued effort to integrate tea and tea-making vessels from different traditions and cultural lineages Jonathan dove deep into Japanese tea and teaware and has a few stories to share.

In this workshop you will get a glimpse of Jonathan's experience in Japan and how this experience encourages the development of his perspective on the way of tea and the art of making pottery for it, and his place in the international conversation.
